Dedicated Graphics Card not showing up in Device Manager / Disappearence / Not Detected [SOLVED] for ASUS TUF FX505DY
EDIT: The latest version of the BIOS has fixed the issue. So, the below steps are no more required to fix the issue.
Introduction:
If
you have encountered a graphics card issue like the driver isn't
showing up in the Device Manager, GPU disappears if the computer sits idle,
graphics card isn't detected then this article helps you to fix the issue. You need to follow this procedure unless an update fixes the issue.
Reasons for the problem:
The most common reasons for the
occurrence of the problem are as follows:
- Incompatible Drivers
- Graphics card isn’t properly
connected
- Graphics card not being used
- Doesn't has any dedicated
graphics card
[NOTE] This
blog demonstrates the solution for the RadeonT RX 560X graphics card used in
ASUS TUF FX505DY Laptop. You may try the solution given below, but don't
blindly follow the links given in this blog as you may have different graphics
card and different manufacturer.
So lets get started
Follow the instructions given
below in a step-by-step process.
1. Update the Windows and BIOS
Those with AMD drivers
need to update as the latest version fixes compatibility issues of the drivers
and boosts the performance by 10%.
Search for the latest version of Windows [as of now 1903] and install. After the update Check for Updates settings
window and proceed to upgrade the system.
Now, update the BIOS of the system. BIOS
allows the motherboard to work with the new hardware. It must be updated cautiously. You can
refer this link for the updation
process of the BIOS.
2. Update the Graphics Card
Drivers
If you have already installed the
graphics card drivers uninstall it by following this process (AMD
clean-up utility) or using this process (DDU). Go to the AMD website and download the auto-detect tool which installs
the latest graphics card drivers (as of now 19.6.1) supported
by your system. [Note] Use the custom installation process and select the
latest driver to install.
3. Update/Install the AMD PSP
driver
This is the most important
step as this driver helps the system to recognize the
graphics card properly.
After following the above 2 steps, if you navigate to the device manager you would be getting a PCI encryption/decryption controller device driver
issue (due to the AMD PSP driver). So, to fix this issue you need to install the AMD PSP driver.
To install the AMD PSP driver follow this link (it redirects you to my github repo) and
download the whole file and install the driver manually.
Incase, if you haven't got any
PCI driver issue then the most preferable way to install the driver is by opening the
setup file contained in the WT64A file as opposed to the installation procedure through
Device Manager.
If these instructions hasn’t fixed the issue you need to wait for the official update.
